We want every learner to be able to read and practise on Learn English for Life, including people who use screen readers, keyboards or larger text.
What we do
- Body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface designed so that similar letters are easy to tell apart.
- Text is large and has strong colour contrast in both light and dark mode.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, and focus is always visible.
- Images that teach have text descriptions.
- Quizzes work with screen readers and do not depend on colour alone.
- Many example sentences have a Listen button that reads them aloud with your device’s voice.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
Known limits
Some older vocabulary charts are images. Their words are also listed in the lesson tables. If something is hard to use, please tell us.
