The simple past tense describes an action or an activity that happened in the past. The simple past tense shows that you are talking about something that has already happened.
Examples:
- She went school yesterday.
- I did my homework.
Here, it does not consider whether the subject of the sentence is singular or plural and put the verb in the past tense only.
Examples:
- We ate Pizza.
- She ate Pizza.
AFFIRMATIVE FORM

Important: “Went” is the past tense of the verb “Go” and as the above table represents, it doesn’t change with the subject of the sentence.
Examples:
- I ate an apple.
- She ate an apple.
- They played.
- She played.
- We studied.
- Anne Studied.
